Let me be frank with you. My daughter loves the malted and chocolate based cereals that come in packaged colorful boxes. I being a working mom, felt it as the easiest option too – open the pack, pour into a bowl, mix milk, fruits and nuts – voila .. Breakfast is ready…My daughter is happy, I am happy.

But with time, I realized my mistake of getting my daughter addicted to the boxed cereals.

Mark my words – No boxed cereals other than the organic non malted ones can replace the nutrition served by the fresh homemade breakfast recipes we had been eating in our childhood/teenage years. In fact traditional recipes of India have been renowned worldwide for its taste and variety too.

This realisation made me to take off the ‘health-promising’ malted cereals out of my kitchen shelves (Now I resort to it during emergencies only). Instead I started making healthy homemade breakfast recipes like dosa, idli, omelettes, poha, upmas etc.

You will be surprised to know that Anshika started eating the homemade breakfasts without any qualms. I was assured that along with being nutritious, homemade breakfasts can be tasty too.

When I started receiving a lot many mails from readers asking for variety breakfast recipes, I had a discussion with Neha C, a superb chef we have in Bumps n Baby.

A Software engineer by profession and mom to 2 lovely kids, Neha has this unique charm and knack for churning out yummy recipes for tiny tummies (from even neglected veggies and fruits). Ivy gourd chutney, whole moong dosa, dates kheer, dry fruit laddusmulti purpose spice powder for babies are some of her brilliant posts I can showcase here.

Neha always stresses on the importance of healthy homemade foods for kids – the main reason that she came up with such a unique concept for this eBook – ‘21 healthy breakfast recipes for kids’.
