Ratatouille for Babies and Kids

6

Have you the seen the advertisement where a kiddo asks his mother whether brinjal could be added in pizza and says he even asked whether his friends’ moms put it too in pizza. Moms try to squeeze in some veggies so that kids / babies would have it even without knowing it. I felt this is one such recipe . It is a hearty combo of bell peppers , bottle gourd, brinjal and tomato. Rich in antioxidants ,vitamins and minerals , this could be used as a side dish for older kids and as a puree to babies / toddlers. This recipe is Ratatouille for babies and kids.

This French recipe is usually baked or cooked in layers of veggies. Ratatouille tastes similar to Bhaingan ka Bharta , I felt. This is an excellent way of introducing babies and kids to brinjals , onions and bell peppers. Here we will see a simple recipe without baking.

  1. Hey Sangeetha,

This definitely looks like a very healthy recipe. My doubt it if I can give this to my 8 mo baby. I have’nt started her on tomato/brinjal/bottle gourd. Can I still give this to her? or should I start each of these veggies and then make this?

    • Hi Andal ,

Thanks for commenting and welcome to Bumps n Baby.

It can be started for your 8 month old baby, you could start vegetable soups which has all mixed veggies in it and yes ratatouille too , just make sure you add clove of garlic to curb the gas here as you are giving it for the first time.
