Finally! I Quit My Hefty Paying Job to Be a Full Time Blogger

39

Hello readers,

I am writing today’s post to let you know about one of the important decisions of my life. I have quit my corporate job and is now a full time blogger. A few of you who know me personally would be wondering ‘why Sangeetha quit such a hefty paying job and becoming a full time blogger?’.

Why I quit my job to be a full time blogger?

Bumps n Baby in the form of thoughts started during my 8th month of pregnancy. But due to the ‘Don’t touch laptop, don’t sit for long, don’t use mobile phones, do this, don’t do that ’ restrictions, most of my dreams with respect to my blog were limited to just reading about blogging.

I bought the domain and started blogging in this virtual space. I became much more serious about blogging after reaching Mumbai with my 3 month old baby. Taking care of my daughter, hubby, house, my job and yes my blog ; things were difficult initially.

Thanks to my lineant boss on allotment of breaks and my good use of breast pump Anshika was exclusively breastfed. Sleepless nights with the baby, regular job, to and fro travel to the day care and back home house hold chores all without the help of a maid; I felt helpless. But the positivity in me , the inner voice somehow gave me the confidence to move on.

Every day was a challenge in some way or the other. But I kept on going forward.

I started writing on a regular basis setting a calender. I started sharing my experience, my feelings with you all and got such a lovely response. I got to know that all the new mommies are facing same problems what I went through and decided to help them. The common concerns were feeding, food habits and weight loss post baby. Being an experienced mommy I decided to write on all these concerns of  new mommies hoping that it will help them. You appreciated all my posts and showered your love on me.

Well Done Sangeetha…Such a useful piece of information. …Well Done to u…I was actually looking for some prayer/stotra to chant at this time of pregnancy. Really helpful..Will definitely share my experience in this blog once my baby is out…:) Can’t wait for that big day…

What I find amazing about this is that you are still breastfeeding though you are working. That takes a lot of resolve, well done!

Where do you live btw because in india the concept of day cares is not that common.

Well thats a great write up!!!Thanks and you INSPIRED ME!!!!

Trust me this blog Bumps n Baby was never a hobby for me. Hobby is some thing which a person does in his free time. For Bumps n Baby I made time, it became a routine for me just like brushing your teeth or washing your face.

With time, I was able to manage my personal and professional life in the best way possible. But as my passion for blogging increased, I started wishing for more and more time for blogging. I started attending blog meets and coaching sessions regularly. I was becoming more disciplined, more focused in life.

Setting my targets for my blog, I told my colleagues that I would resign the day on which I achieve my first target. My first target was achieved, but I couldn’t resign because of the criticality of the project I was associated with. But I kept on writing, blogging.

I met Anjana Jins as one of my readers then. A chirpy talkative girl-working mom, full of life I found her passion for writing and asked her why don’t she join Bumps n Baby. From then Anjana is part and parcel of our blog. Do you know she writes and does social engagements for Bumps n Baby without even taking a single penny as her fee?? That’s the sheer sincere dedication this fine lady has shown me and Bumps n Baby.

It was then I attended Wordcamp 2014. It changed my life, my view towards blogging completely. I realized blogging was something I always wanted to do in my life. Reaching out to like minded audience,  helping them in every way possible, make a living out of it, being your own boss and living the dreams you always wanted; Wordcamp taught me all these.

At Wordcamp Mumbai

I discussed my plans of quitting regular job for blogging with my family. Though my inlaws and parents were unhappy, I knew it was the right decision I could take for my life, the one that makes me happy inside out. I had found my true passion. My husband and my colleagues supported my decision whole heartedly.

Now we have a Bumps n Baby Team and I am so happy that my dreams are turning into reality step by step . Seeking your blessings and prayers as I embark upon this new journey of mine.

I will be soon posting on my life as a full time blogger and a stay at home mom.

Till then stay tuned ,

  4. Good luck with your blogging, wishing you lots of success. When my daughter was born I had a part-time job working at home. So I got to be with her every day and watch her grow up. There’s no job or amount of money on earth that can beat that.

  5. This is my dream, if only my husband was supportive of it…I know that I could totally do this full-time and be very successful but hubby wont have it. Good luck and thank you for linking up last week with Friday Favorites! Hope to see you this week too!

  6. Resigning a job is a daring decision. Even I want to devote more time to my blog but i’m pushing myself to continue my job just bcz i’m contributing in my family equally. If the job is essential fr ur survival, how to manage funds through blog even if its more than a passion?
