Spinach Poori or Palak Poori

2

My little one always waves his hand at everyone and gives them a cute smile. One day, while coming out of our building, as usual he waved his hand to a cyclewala grocer standing out. He thought that we called him and came inside the compound gate. He was carrying fresh palak/spinach from a nearby farmland and we bought three bunches of palak from him. The next day I prepared palak poori or spinach poori for Rithvik.

Spinach is a rich source of vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin K, magnesium, manganese, folate, iron and moderate amount of calcium. As it also contains oxalates and nitrates, it would best to check for allergies after you give spinach to babies less than 9 months.

Those toddlers and kids who dislike spinach or any other leafy vegetable , this spinach poori/palak poori is a way to let them have it without their knowledge.

Palak Poori or Spinach Poori

  • Wheat flour -1 cup
  • Palak / Spinach leaves – 1 1/2 cup packed
  • Oil- 1 tablespoon
  • Salt to taste

Method:

1. Boil little water in a sauce pan,add spinach and cook it for 5 mins.

2. Allow it to cool down and make into a fine paste using blender.

3. Take flour, salt and oil in a bowl and mix well.

4. Add in the spinach paste and mix well. Knead it well as you do it for poori dough. No need of adding water. If it’s needed add accordingly.

5. Once done add few drops of oil to prevent drying and keep it closed for 15 min.

6. After 15 min, divide the dough and roll it.

7. Cut the rolled dough into shapes with cookie cutter  (this step is completely optional. Kids will enjoy their meals if you prepare something creative 🙂 )

8. Heat oil for deep frying and fry those rolled dough.

Your palak/spinach poori is ready now.
