Long before Doraemon, Pokemon and Chhota Bheem, there was a guy who along with his gang of friends enthralled us and made our childhood magical. You may think you are too old for him now, but just the name brings back wonderful memories of your younger days, where watching him on TV was a treat. Despite the arrival of new cartoon characters, he still remains a favorite with a lot of kids and adults alike.

Who is he?
Mickey mouse! The adorable little mouse, who is the mascot of Walt Disney Company, who is seen wearing red shorts, yellow shoes and white gloves.
Mickey and his image is etched into everyone’s minds in such a way that, the moment you see red and black, you think of him. My little one and I were watching Mickey Mouse clubhouse one day (yes, I admit it, I still watch cartoons) when I realized that he and I share the same birthday!
2 Mickey mouse crafts DIY for your toddlers or kids:
Mickey Mouse made his first appearance on 18th November 1928. And that’s why I decided to make something to honor this childhood hero. Presenting 2 easy to make Mickey Mouse craft ideas.
#1. Mickey Mouse Bookmark
The first craft is a bookmark.
You see, some parts of the country are dealing with heavy rains and most of the kiddos are confined to their houses. So how to keep them occupied in this nasty weather? I have got two things for you mommies – Books and fun easy crafts for kids. This first craft combines both as if you are reading, you need to have a cool bookmark too.
Materials required:
- Thick paper (I have used Handmade paper) – red and black
- Ruler
- Pencil
- Glue
- White Paper
Instructions:
First, take the white paper and draw three squares on it (refer figure) with the dimensions 5.5 cm * 5.5cm. Next draw two diagonal lines on the squares as shown in the figure.
Cut out the figure. This is your stencil.
Use the stencil to trace out the image on the red paper. Cut it out and fold the triangular parts and stick it.
Now you can draw mickey’s face on the white paper. Nothing too difficult. Just 3 circles!!
You can either color it with a black sketch pen or you can trace it on a black paper and cut it. Stick the face on your bookmark.
There you go! It’s done.
#2. Mickey Mouse Luggage Tag
If you want something cool to accessorize your kiddo’s bag, but at the same time want it to be more than just a pretty bauble – then a luggage tag will suit your requirement. It can be used for school bags, your little one’s luggage or even a diaper bag!
Materials required:
- Foam sheets – black and red
- Yellow Paper
- Clear plastic sheet
- Glue
- Pencil
- Scissor
- Ruler
Instructions:
First take the black foam sheet and draw a rectangle with the dimensions 9cm* 7.5cm. Cut it out carefully. This is your base. Next draw a smaller rectangle on the black foam sheet with dimensions 9cm * 3cm. Draw borders, leaving ½ inch from the edges on 3 sides, leaving one lengthwise side out. Cut it out. ( Refer the picture).
Take the red foam sheet and draw a rectangle with dimensions 9cm *4.5cm. Draw the borders as mentioned above leaving one lengthwise side out. Cut it out. Now we have three separate pieces.
Take the clear plastic sheet. I used the packing material of a magazine. Cut it a bit smaller than your base. (Refer the picture). Take the base and cut a small slit where you want your string to go. It can be either on the lengthwise side or breadth wise side. Apply glue and stick the plastic sheet on the base. Remember to leave the side with slit open.
Next cut a thin red strip. Draw an arrowhead on one head and cut it out.
Make a small slit on the other end. You can use this to attach the tag to the bag. The arrow goes through the slit and forms a loop as shown in the picture.
Apply glue and stick the black and red pieces. The black piece goes on top and the red on the bottom.
I decided to reinforce the tag with stitches, I used a black thread to do so. But only stitch 3 sides.
Take the yellow paper and draw two small circles, cut it out and stick it on the red part, these are Mickey’s buttons.
Slide the red strip through the slit of your luggage tag. You can now slide a paper with your child’s name and loop the tag through his/her bag!
