This basic carrot soup can be introduced at 6 months after the baby is comfortable with carrot water and carrot puree. As the recipe is meant for 6-month-old babies, the soup is prepared with minimal ingredients to make it baby-friendly.

Ingredients

  • Carrot- 1 medium-sized
  • Water- 1 cup
  • Homemade ghee- 1 teaspoon or a few drops

Instructions

  1. Firstly, wash the carrot well.
  2. Then peel the carrot and trim the edges.
  3. Now cut the carrot into 4-5 pieces and boil the pieces in water for 2-3 whistles on medium flame.
  4. Release the pressure from the cooker.
  5. Now blend or grind the carrot well along with the water used for cooking.
  6. Use the strainer to filter the soup.
  7. Add homemade ghee and the soup is ready.
  8. Allow it to cool a bit and feed warm soup to your baby.

Variations of Carrot Soup for Babies 

The carrot soup can be made with some variations if the baby gets bored with plain carrot soup or is fussy about eating other vegetables,. The baby can be given these variations of carrot soup once the other ingredients (vegetables and spices) the recipe calls for are introduced individually without any signs of allergy.

Note: Salt is not recommended for babies below 1 year. So salt is not included in these carrot soup recipes. You can add salt if you are making this soup for kids above one year. It’s completely optional.

1.Carrot soup with aromatic coriander leaves

The addition of coriander leaves in this carrot soup for babies gives it a nice aroma and flavor. Plus coriander is a good antioxidant, antiseptic and also helps treat diarrhea.  Babies from 7 months onwards can have this carrot coriander soup.

Ingredients

  • Carrot- 1 medium-sized
  • Water- 1 small cup
  • Fresh coriander leaves- a sprig
  • Ghee- a few drops or less than a teaspoon

Instructions

  1. First, cook well the washed and cut carrots in water.
  2. Now add fresh coriander leaves to this 
  3. Then blend the mixture. Strain it if needed.
  4. Finally, add ghee to the warm soup and serve.

2. Carrot onion soup

Carrot onion soup is another easy to cook variation of carrot soup. Onion can sometimes cause gas in babies. So, reduce the quantity of onion if your baby is generally gassy in nature. You can give this soup when the baby reaches 8 months.

Ingredients

  • Carrot- 1 medium-sized
  • Onion- half of a small-sized onion
  • Water- 1 cup
  • Homemade ghee- 2 teaspoons

Instructions:

  1. First, peel and wash the onion and cut into small pieces.
  2. Then, heat a teaspoon of ghee and saute onions in it. 
  3. Turn off the flame when the onion is cooked till transparent.
  4. Now, wash and peel the carrot. Trim the edges.
  5. Cut the carrot into 4-5 pieces and pressure cook the pieces in water for 2-3 whistles on medium flame.
  6. Add the cooked onions to the mix once the pressure is released from the cooker. 
  7. Now blend the cooked onion and carrots with water to get a smooth texture.
  8. Finally, add a little homemade ghee and the soup is ready.
  9. Allow it to cool a bit and feed warm soup to your baby.

3.Carrot tomato soup for babies

With the addition of tomato, this carrot soup for babies is a good option for infants above 8-months of age.

Ingredients

  • Carrot- 1 medium-sized
  • tomato- 1 medium-sized
  • Water- 1 cup
  • Homemade ghee- 2 teaspoons
  • Black pepper powder- a pinch 

Instructions:

  1. Wash and peel the carrot. Trim the edges.
  2. Cut the carrot into 4-5 pieces. 
  3. Chop the tomato
  4. Boil the pieces of carrots and tomato in water for 2-3 whistles on medium flame.
  5. Let the pressure release from the cooker. Now blend the soup well with water.
  6. Use the strainer to filter the soup. 
  7. Add a spoonful of homemade ghee and the soup is ready.
  8. Allow it to cool a bit and feed warm soup to your baby.

  • Carrot- 1 medium-sized
  • Tomato- 1 medium-sized
  • Peas- 2 to 3 tablespoons
  • Potato- 1 very small sized
  • Fresh coriander leaves- few sprigs
  • Water- 1 cup
  • Homemade ghee- 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper powder- according to spice level(optional)

Instructions

  1. Wash the coriander leaves and keep aside.
  2. Wash the vegetables. Peel carrot and potato.
  3. Cut carrot, potato, and tomato into big pieces.
  4. Boil the vegetables in water for 2-3 whistles on medium flame.
  5. Let the pressure release from the cooker.
  6. Now blend the soup along with the coriander leaves and the water used for cooking vegetables.
  7. Add black pepper powder and mix well
  8. Add homemade ghee and the soup is ready.

5. Aromatic carrot soup for babies above one year

And here comes the tasty aromatic carrot soup recipe with the effect of natural herbs and spices to boost immunity in babies above one year. 

Ingredients

  • Carrot- 1 medium sized
  • Water- 1 cup
  • Ginger- 1 small piece (enough to make half a teaspoon of paste)
  • Garlic- 3 pods
  • Onion- 1 small
  • Black pepper powder- 1 teaspoon
  • Salt(optional) –  according to taste
  • Homemade ghee- 1 teaspoon

Instructions

  1. Wash and peel the carrot and trim the edges.
  2. Peel the onion.
  3. Now cut the carrot and onion into 4-5 pieces. 
  4. Also, cut ginger and garlic into small pieces.
  5. Heat ghee in a cooker and add cut ginger and garlic. 
  6. Stir for few seconds and then, add pieces of onions to it. Stir till they turn translucent.
  7. Now add pieces of carrot and mix well.
  8. Add salt, black pepper, and water to it. Mix well and pressure cook for 2-3 whistles at medium flame. 
  9. Wait for the pressure to release from the cooker.
  10. Blend the mixture to a smooth texture.
  11. Finally, add a teaspoonful of homemade ghee to make it yummier.
  12. Feed it warm to your baby.

6. Carrot beetroot soup recipe for babies

Healthy carrot beetroot soup for babies is a good option for winter days. This soup is easy to make. Wash and cut the carrot and beetroot.
