Ingredients
  • Red poha, aval or flattened rice – 1 cup
  • Dry fruits (I have used almonds, walnuts, pistachios and raisins) – ½ cup
  • Powdered jaggery – ½ cup
  • Cardamom – 2 nos / Cardamom powder – 1 pinch
  • Ghee – 4 to 6 tablespoon
Instructions
  1. Heat a thick bottomed pan and add 1 tsp of ghee and add in the dry fruits (except raisins/kismis). Roast them on medium heat for 2 to 3 minutes. Keep aside to cool off.
  2. In the same pan, add in the red poha or Aval. Roast on medium heat for 4-5 minutes. Do not roast the poha on a high flame as it may lose its taste then. Once the poha is crisp, remove from the flame and let it come to normal temperature.
  3. Grind the roasted poha and dry fruit mixture along with kismis for few seconds to get a lightly crushed mixture/ powder.
  4. Add in the powdered jaggery and cardomom powder to the mixture. Mix really well .
  5. Heat the ghee slightly and add the 2 tbsp of ghee to the jaggery and poha mix . Keep mixing for approximately a minute till you are able to make a laddu out of the mixture. In case the mixture is dry, add little more ghee. The quantity of ghee required depends on the nuts . So add the ghee only if needed.
  6. Take small amount of mixture in your hand and roll it out in the form of a ball or laddu.
